Writing is like being force fed onions. I hate onions with a passion but they are good for you and in some food they give it a good flavor. I love to talk but writing is a little more difficult I guess it is all of the thought you have to put into writing   , commas, the grammatical errors and using different words that mean the same word but in a different context. I really even hate to say this but until this day I have a bit of difficulty with “there” , “their” , “where”, and “were” if I think about it too hard then I will use the wrong  one , this is kind of embarrassing but I figure it could be worst I could be a terrible speller . I am an excellent speaker I would think this would make me a better writer I couldn’t be more wrong.
I don’t think I  will ever like onions but I believe if they are cooked  and cut up really small I can’t  they are in my food , this leads me to believe there is hope for me to be a better writer , I just need to put forth more of an effort. The most difficult thing I have come to figure out about writing, is writing about things you don’t really care about, instructors, professors and teachers expect you to embrace things that just don’t interest you,   I have ran into this several times and mom my tells me that “it will make you more diverse in subjects and cultures to have a better understanding about different things”, I just say ok.
I write emails and text everyday this is my main point of communication being located so far away from everything and family, I don’t have to be so formal with my friends and family.  I like to abbrev.  and shorthand all of my messages. When I find out I have to write a paper I think of stress and  strain , when I hear the word I try to run but I am not fast enough (bad knee). High school just kind of flew by  I can remember doing a lot of writing in high school, thesis I don’t like that word either but I have come to terms that it’s not going anywhere.
I have to say I have improved drastically since high school, when I have to write a paper I try to prepare, I do this by gathering information, I love to read so that’s not a problem, by creating an outline so to speak and writing down all of my sources, I try to put a paper in order of intro, three Para supporting, conclusion now I remember that’s what I got from high school. I hope to become a better writing after taking this course, I picked a career field that allows me to do mass amount  of talking  but the writing is equivalent to the talking that’s a lot. I use one word to get me through a lot f writing assignments “Motivation”; I picked it up when I was in the US Army.
Onions! I hate onions too. I don’t think I could ever like them either, even cut up and into other food. Writing, on the other hand, is something I have been able to get behind. Unlike you, I do enjoy a bit of writing, I can even get behind it on subjects that I don’t particularly enjoy. What always gets to me is what seems like arbitrary lengths of papers in some classes. Have you ever considered writing like you speak? Write your speech in paper form. Both forms have similar structures and can be used to convey a message. Maybe if you treat your paper as a speech that you are just planning out you can have greater success on the writing front. The rules of English can be tough and the nuances get us all, but a trick I’ve found is writing tips on a sticky note next to my computer. I learned to write using two spaces after a sentence, I had to learn how to do one when I started going to school here. It was the sticky note that was my savior.
